Your First Menu
A five-minute walkthrough: open the builder, add top-level items, and save your first menu. You can configure deeper layouts later — this page gets the basics in place.
Opening the builder
After activation, click Ruby Mega Menu in your WordPress admin sidebar. The builder opens directly — no additional setup steps.
The builder layout mirrors WordPress's classic menu editor: a list of your menu items on the left, an editor panel on the right for the currently selected item.
Adding a top-level item

Click + Add New Item at the top of the menu list.

Give your item a label — this is the text that appears in the menu bar.
-
Choose a link type. Every item must be one of four types:
- Custom URL — any URL you type in. Use this for external links, anchors (e.g.
#pricing), or custom routes that aren't WordPress content. - Page — any published WordPress page. Search by title; the link resolves to that page's permalink automatically.
- Post — any published blog post. Same search-by-title behavior as Page.
- Category — a WordPress post category archive. Clicking the menu item takes visitors to the category's index page.
- Woo Category — a WooCommerce product category archive. Only available when WooCommerce is active.
- Woo Product — a specific WooCommerce product page. Only available when WooCommerce is active.
- No Link — the item renders as plain text with no clickable destination. Useful for top-level items that exist purely to open a dropdown on hover.
- Custom URL — any URL you type in. Use this for external links, anchors (e.g.

Click Save at the top of the editor panel.

Repeat above mentioned actions for All Main Level Items.
Configuring the Sub-Menus
Once a top-level item is saved, clicking it in the menu list opens a type-specific editor on the right:
- Classic Dropdown items get a nested list editor where you can add up to three levels of child items
- Classic Mega Menu items get a column layout picker and column type editor
- Blog Menu items get a category picker and layout selector for each tab
- Shop Menu items get a tab-based editor with multiple mega panels
Each menu type has its own dedicated page in this documentation — see the Menu Types section in the sidebar.
Saving and displaying your menu
Ruby Mega Menu saves each item automatically as you click Save in the editor panel. There's no separate "publish" step — the menu becomes live immediately.
To actually display the menu on your site, head to Theme Integration.
